I am not really into gambling much, but I do occasionally try my luck on the roulette tables and the end of the month Lotto big pay out weekends. Last night, Thursday, the 10th of July 2013, I attended Tsogo Sun’s inaugural SLOTS FACTOR National Championship. They invited media and bloggers like myself to experience what slots enthusiasts will have to do, to stand the chance of winning the R1 Million grand prize.
The following is taken from the press release sent to me:
Montecasino is calling on all slots enthusiasts to be part of Tsogo Sun’s inaugural SLOTS FACTOR National Championships. Taking place from 14 July to 21 September, the stakes in this countrywide slots tournament are high – with a whopping R1 Million in cold hard cash guaranteed to the ultimate winner PLUS an additional R1.3 million shared among the top 10 national scorers. To enter, simply purchase your entry into the tournament through Computicket prior to the tournament start time and register at the Slots Factor Desk, next to Bidvest, from 16:30 on each day. Buy-in is R100.
When I arrived at 3Sixty Degrees Liquid Lounge in Montecasino, I was given a purple wristband that matched my purple jersey I had on (a sign that I could be lucky tonight). Before being taken to the slot machines to compete with all the other guests, I bumped into the beautiful reigning Miss Earth South Africa, Tamerin Jardine, and I had a lovely chat about the dress she wore at the recent Durban July and some of her experiences as a model living in Cape Town.
The time came to play slots and we were ushered to our seat by the MC, Dalen Lance.
I honestly do not understand how these slot machines work. All I see is a whole lot of different icons, luckily all I had to do is press one button as many times in our allotted 3 minutes and wait to see who among us ended up with the highest score. The top 12 scoring players then had to play again to compete for the prizes on offer. I made it through the first round and ended up in 8th place overall.
I won a few prizes, which included:
1 X Montecasino branded towel
2 x Birds Gardens Complimentary Tickets
1 x Back of the Moon voucher to the value of R300
30 min back, neck & shoulder massage at the Soulstice day spa
2 x Montecasino key rings
And if that was not enough, on my way home, I was also given a goodie bag with a 50ml Million by Paco Rabanne Eau De Toilette.
“Note to self ” – Purple is now my new favourite colour.
