After posting my last blog post called “No alternative video screens in South Africa” where I expressed my disappointment that we do not have a large selection of locally produced web series, I decided to promote the ones we do have.
“Africa on a Plate” is a web reality cooking series with host and chef Lentswe Bhengu. The series is very addictive to watch and enjoyable. Lentswe is very comfortable in front of the camera and sounds knowledgeable about cooking.
The format of this series consists of Lentswe going out to a local Cape Town based markets or restaurants to eat locally cooked dishes. Thereafter, he goes to buy fresh ingredients, which he then cooks himself. It is executed effectively and makes for an a informative cooking series.
I have reached out to Lentswe and series producer Jurgens van Wyk, to answer questions related to this web series, which I will upload as soon as they answer.
Below are their first two episodes – enjoy.
