Mzansi Life & Style

The National Eatery & Speakeasy, located in Parktown North, Johannesburg, hosted food bloggers recently to showcase a selection of their signature dishes from their new Winter menu. Chef James Diack and his team gave us the menu below, allowing us to select our own preferred dishes. This I prefer to the little and many taste plates sometimes offered to us at such events. Being able to enjoy the full size portions allows me to experience their food exactly the way you will, when you visit The National.

Some of you might remember him as the guy with the big infectious smile, big warm hello and a hug at Col’Cacchio at the World Wear shopping mall in Northcliff or at Cafe del Sol in Olivedale. Alessandro spent some of his early years growing up in Italy where his father was the Lesotho Ambassador in Italy. So this dude knows his Italian food.

Acid Jazz bands were a big hit at this year’s DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival

Incognito on stage @ DStv Delicious International Food & Music FestivalUnlike last year, I was not offered a media invite by Total Exposure to attend this year’s DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival. I guess my blog post called “Not So Delicious Food and Music Festival” about last year’s event did not go down too well. Lucky for me, a good friend of mine, Owen Hannie, gave me his VIP complimentary tickets, as I was still in two minds if I should buy tickets, after last year’s bad experience.

I don’t drink coffee, I drink Loose Leaf Teas my dear.

Posted on Updated on

Loose - Loose Leaf TeaI really love my tea and I have spent large sums of money looking and searching for that perfect cup. On a recent trip to Cape Town, Mishkah and I walked into the lobby of The Table Bay hotel with my mother and nieces at 22h30 one evening, in search for a good cup of tea. With the assistance of a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress, we went through their large selection of loose leaf teas. I decided on three different teas and we all enjoyed the taste experience. I made full use of this opportunity. Read the rest of this entry »
